Ser Kranstin Shearwater

Castellan of Caer Dragonscorn

Ser Kranstin Shearwater is the knight-commander of the Caer Dragonscorn. As castellan, he has wide-ranging powers over the day-to-day operations of the castle guards and servants, and his position is one of great trust among the household, meeting daily with both Lady Ivis Blackshield and Baroness Neria Blackshield.

His primary duties, at present, are ensuring the castle is well-equipped for a lengthy siege, and that there are sufficient supplies and arms available to last past the spring of TR 1050, and to raise a local militia, especially with the threat of war on the horizon.

He possesses Mor’Hyanda, the Black Blade as a gift of the previous baron, but only wields the weapon when he must.

The castellan was granted his knighthood by the royal household of the Wardukes, after many years of service in their name on the northern borders of the Barony of Archenshield. Rumor has he was knighted on the field at the Battle of White Mines, and has proven to be an experienced battle commander.

Little is known about the vices of the man, but he is rumored to spend most of his free time in quiet solitude, often reading books from the library and walking the battlements, to test every inch of the castle’s defenses. He also spends much of his time working with Baroness Neria in her skill at arms, and was the one who personally trained her in the art. He has been vocal in allotting more monies to the repair of the castle, and the hire of more soldiers, but such funds have never really been available, and so contents himself with ensuring the supplies are sufficient and the staff is efficient.

It has been pointed out, that he is likely a distant cousin to Master Ricard “Ricochet” Shearwater, “Swirling Fury”, however, his first impressions of both his young cousin and his companions has not been very good, especially since they insulted his rank as a proven knight of the realm. He has also vocally questioned their loyalty to the Baroness.
