Description

A winged serpent is a brightly colored green serpent with leathery wings. They have elaborate crests on their heads, and manta-like tails on their hindquarters. They are believed to come from the southern jungles of Molkuria.

They keep no permanent lairs, hoard no treasure, and do not take care of their young, so one might presume them to have no cares. This is wrong, as the one thing that a winged serpent does live for is their primary nutrition; fresh fruit. Fruit is the one love of a winged serpent’s life; they eat it constantly and cannot survive without it. They feast upon wild fruit by first finding one, and then biting a hole in them. This injects the winged serpent’s corrosive venom and causes the insides of the fruit to quickly liquify. The creature then sucks it out like juice.

Winged serpents are not evil creatures, and are really quite docile, attacking only in self-defense, or when they feel threatened. They are sometimes tamed and kept as pets, although rarely, as the massive amounts of fresh fruit they eat makes them very expensive and difficult to upkeep. They can be trained to do tricks, and can even act as guardians. The The Iron Ring is well known to use them as couriers and pets among their chosen agents, much as others might ravens or owls, making them exceedingly rare in the lands of Argoth.

Winged serpents cannot speak, and they are regarded as unaligned in alignment.
