The City-State of Kephira - Breadbasket of Iberia
The City-State of Kephira, the “Breadbasket of Iberia”, is a city-state ruled by the quiet and careful High-Lady Araphor (the Shy), from her capital of Ramos, notable for its gardens, woodlands, and lack of a defensive wall. The realm has established a reputation among its fellows for honest dealings, and many of the wandering Iberian traders come from this city. Most traders know, however, that the capital is also the site of extensive smuggling, despite repeated attempts by the ruling High-Lords to eradicate this menace. Considered the prettiest of the Iberian states, its well-watered dales are sprinkled with smaller villages and friendlier people than any other Iberian state. Cattle, grain and berry wines, particularly “Redberry Wine”, have all proven to be exceptional trade goods for this city-state.
Kephira is one of the “Kingdoms of the Riverlands”, whose alliance in trade and defense is officially known as the Lord’s Alliance of the Iberian City-States. Although balkanized and given to fierce competition in trade and commerce, these nations meet regularly and put aside their differences when outside forces try to test their autonomy, and that unity has kept them intact over the years.
