The Kingdom of Evael - Ice and Magic
The Kingdom of Evael, also known as “The Nornlands”, is the last remnant of the Eladrin Kingdom which once covered most of Argoth. Evael’s borders are relatively vague, but are generally held to be the lands north of the Barrier Mountains, or fringing along them. The Ironwood Forest, which lies along the northern shore of the Celeste Sea, is also loosely controlled (or at least patrolled) by the elves of this kingdom. The local Ninnellen barbarian tribes had an established treaty with the Eladrin that gave them access to this vast swath of land, but this lapsed when the Imperium attempted to exert it’s control over the area, and destroyed the scattered Ninnellen settlements.
There is little known about this realm, though two permanant settlements are rumored to exist; Ulshafen, a port lying somewhere to the frozen north, and Elshavel, the capital. Since its founding some 1400 years ago by King Aranath, who still rules, the Kingdom of Evael has served more as a sanctuary for all the elves of Argoth than as a “kingdom” in the human reckoning of things. The forests close to the elven lands are heavily enchanted, and virtually alive, permitting few non-elves within their boughs. The kingdom seems to take little notice of the rest of Argoth, particularly since the Imperial interests in the region have dissipated. It has no noticeable exports, although fine woodcrafts and glasswares can sometimes be had through the daring Vulcanir traders, or those who make contact in the Ironwood Forest across the Celeste Sea..
