The Shatter - Fallen Realm of the Coranik Imperium
The Shatter or the “Chaos Realm” was once the heartland of the Coranik Imperium, now a devastated wilderness following the Trask River Valley, consisting of the ruins of what was once the most densely populated realm of Argoth. The ancient cities of Telen, Golotha, and the jewelled capital city, Corannos, are now tumbled masonry, their elegant gardens lying trampled to dust, and the earth itself scorched to ash by dragon breath. The years leading to the Great Swarm of TR 1024, were a mix of foul magicks and great wealth, eventually culminating in the devastation of the Imperium and death of its grand architect, Emperor A’korahil. The great estates of the nobility lie abandoned, their fields the haunt of leucrotta, packs of feral wolves and owlbears. Human outlaws also skulk across the region, and even they report tales of finding dopplegangers in their midst, beholders drifting about the vales, and even surviving dragons building lairs in the devastated cities. The greatest danger, however, remains the undead that virtually swarm from the sewers of Corannos and Golotha, spreading outward into the Border Kingdoms and threatening the few remaining stalwarts who try to barricade themselves in their steadings, ekeing out a tenuous life in the Shatter. The realm has no notable exports, though lost caches of magic and wealth can be found by dedicated adventurers.
