“This reptilian humanoid seems to melt out of the shadows of the forest. It is about three feet tall, and has a lean, wiry build. Its large eyes reflect the light, and a small crest runs down the back of its head. It hisses at you, revealing its sharp teeth.”

Candlemere Bog Lizardfolk are smaller and weaker than other breeds of lizardfolk, but faster and generally more intelligent than their larger cousins. Their smarter members are known to speak some Common. They are highly skilled trackers and hunters, and have long since adapted to use poison, nets and other tricks to bring down larger prey. Their camps are always well-thought out, and show a clever understanding of how to survive in their chosen environment, often hidden and difficult to spot by other predators.

Generally isolated in the relative fastness of Candlemere Bog, they have adapted themselves well to their environment; alone among their kind, they have adapted the use of more advanced weapons. While they still shun armor, they commonly use salvaged iron and Droskari Metal Alloy short swords and bows, which are far superior to the clubs and javelins of their larger kin.

They avoid physical combat whenever possible, striking targets with poison in their water or food supply, instead of launching a direct assault. When they do fight, which is rare, they favor ambushes and clever traps. Nets are a common weapon among the younger warriors, using these weapons to hinder or entangle foes while their archer brethren strike with Serpent Venom poisoned arrows.

They are known to view themselves as a superior breed of lizardfolk, fanatically devoted to their own strange gods. They generally avoid other lizardfolk, and are viewed as nomadic in nature, rarely staying in one camp more than a few weeks, and constantly roving the shores of Candlemere Bog. They are primarily carnivores, like most lizards, but are known to eat fruit, berries and mushrooms to supplement their diets. They do not practice any form of formal agriculture. They are believed to be quite small in number.
